Probiotic tampons

In connection with the use of tampons, there is a low probability of occurrence of toxic shock syndrome (TSS), a rare but serious health condition. TSS is caused by bacteria that can naturally occur on the skin and be transferred from hands to the vagina. The risk of its occurrence increases when a blood-soaked tampon is left in the vagina for too long.

What are the symptoms of TSS? Signals that should concern you include high fever, vomiting or diarrhea, dizziness, a sunburn-like rash, sore throat, and fainting. If these occur, remove the tampon immediately and consult a doctor. With prompt diagnosis, TSS is easy to treat.

Remember to always wash your hands before and after using a tampon, and to change your tampon regularly – this reduces the risk of TSS. And if you have experienced TSS in the past, consult a doctor before first use.

How to insert a tampon? Wash your hands, remove the tampon from its packaging, and find the string to make sure it is securely attached. Get into a comfortable position: sit, squat, or place one foot higher (e.g., on the edge of the bathtub). Insert the tampon into your vagina using your index finger until you can no longer feel it. Wash your hands again after application. You're all set!

How to remove a tampon? Simply pull gently on the string. The used tampon goes into the trash—never flush it down the toilet. If you feel resistance when pulling it out, it may mean the tampon is not yet fully saturated.

Remember to always wash your hands before and after contact with a tampon, and follow these rules:

1. Always remove the previous tampon before inserting a new one.
2. Use tampons vaginally only during your period - do not use them after your period ends.
3. Change your tampon every 4–6 hours (including at night) and do not wear a single tampon for longer than 6 hours.
